The rest of the monastery is private, for the use of the nuns. This is our home, and we ask that visitors respect the boundaries of enclosure.
The red house in front of our red guest house is our new visitor's center. It is open Sunday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and SATURDAY 11:00-4:00 p.m. When you enter, to the left you will find our shop where we sell our products. To the right is an exhibit explaining Cistercian life. Thank you for supporting our industry, which is how we earn our living.
A total of about 40 people live on Tautra all year long. They love the beautiful and fragile nature out here, and also want visitors to find peace and time for thought. In order to preserve this atmosphere, Tautra needs your help. We ask that you respect this incredibly special landscape by leaving as little "footprint" as possible.
Tour operators should contact Frosta Utvikling to arrange their visit. Tel +47 74 80 89 15, or Anne Hagerup +47 913 62 416.
